Cultivating Collaboration for Native Seeds

Seed LA supports a network of regional partners who can provide expertise and resources. We work together to further our goals of increasing the use of local native seed and ensuring a reliable seed supply for the future

Highlighting collaboration

The Bowtie Parcel, an 18-acre former industrial site near the L.A. River in Northeast Los Angeles, is on track to become a new public green space.

Teaming up with California State Parks, TNC is leading efforts to transform the first 3-acre portion of the area. The project will improve water quality, enhance habitat, and make the river more accessible to everyone.

Seed LA has been contracted to provide ecologically suitable native plants for the project. Multiple members of Seed LA are collaborating to collect, seed bank, grow, and distribute plants for the project.

In summer 2023, Seed LA organized workshops for the Bowtie Wetlands Project, fostering community engagement, native plant education, and hands-on learning.

The series included four workshops, such as Micro Nursery 101, a Seed Collecting party, and a guided walk focusing on native plants.
